Alright, I know that writing this now during COVID-19 seems kind of strange… I mean, we’re going to list our top date night ideas in the Tampa area, but nothing is open and we can’t go outside unless it’s essential. And I’d argue that date nights with your future hubby are very essential, but that’s just my opinion 😉
And we believe it’s so important that
even if you’re no longer “dating” because you’re now engaged, doesn’t mean you should stop dating
Right? There’s something so romantic about dedicating a night to just the two of you to catch up, joke around and be in each others company!
Matlock and I love date nights and we try to go on a date at least once a week. Sometimes that looks like baking cookies at home, or sometimes it looks like going on a mini road trip for a weekend, or sometimes it looks like going out to a nice restaurant to treat ourselves.
So, with all that said, we wanted to share with you guys our favorite date night ideas in the Tampa Bay Area to give you some inspiration for your next date night!
1. The CineBistro in Hyde Park
All someone had to say was, “you get to order dinner while you’re at the movie theater” and we were all for it! Seriously, going to the CineBistro is one of our favorite things to do. While you’re waiting for the movie to start a waiter comes over to take your orders and by the time the movie begins, your food is brought to you to eat while you watch. As someone who has to watch TV while she eats, this earns extra brownie points for me hehe.
2. Take a stroll around Fort De Soto
Our all time favorite beach in St. Petersburg. Why? Because it has everything. Cool history, a pier, rocks, palm trees, and amazing sunsets. Go out to dinner nearby and about an hour before sunset, head over to Fort De Soto and walk around (or find a cozy spot to sit), watch the sunset, and let all the romantic vibes settle in 🥰
3. Rent bikes and go for a fun ride!
In Dunedin, there’s a bike shop called Kafe Racer that lets you rent bikes AND has a coffee shop… how perfect is that? When we’re feeling adventurous (or maybe a little chubby from eating too much ice cream 😅) we like to rent a couple of bikes and ride around the neighborhood and watch the sunset across the Fenway Hotel.
4. Take a cooking class at Sur La Table
Another super cute date night idea is to take a cooking class together. You get to make really yummy food, but you also get to spend time with one another learning a new recipe! You can see which classes they’re offering on their website. They have anything from classic French desserts to pizza to pad Thai. They also have specific classes just for date nights!
5. Dinner at Bern’s and staycation
So, I may be a little biased to this date night idea because this is actually how Matlock proposed to me! But besides that, I do think it’s a really cute idea. Our favorite restaurant in Tampa is Bern’s- if you’ve never been, definitely make an appointment and make sure to get the tour of the kitchen and wine cellar… oh, and don’t forget to reserve a booth in the Dessert Room! Afterwards, have a little staycation at a cute, local hotel. Trust us, you’ll feel like you’re on an actual vacation!
