Thanksgiving 2019 Recap

I think Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday of the year! Yup, even over Christmas!

There’s something extra special about coming together as a community and eating our hearts out. I’ve been to a lot of friendsgivings, community thanksgivings, and of course, our own family thanksgiving – and I just love how full my heart (and stomach) feels after I spend time with great people all around me.

Normally, Matlock and I will go to multiple friends’ homes or like last year, we visited my parents in Chicago and spent four days with them in a really cool high-rise Air BnB!

But, this year was different than all the rest. We didn’t go to any friendsgivings and we didn’t see either of our parents – honestly, I was really bummed about not being able to see my parents since I only see them a few times each year. But… being able to spend this Thanksgiving with just Matlock and Finn was probably one of the best Thanksgivings. It was small, cozy, and included a TON of food for just the two of us.

We ordered a Thanksgiving dinner for four people (because let’s face it… we would definitely eat it all 😂) from Whole Foods! And let me tell you, their Thanksgiving meals really hit the spot. I loved that all the food was pre-made, so all I had to do was heat them up in the oven, including the turkey which only needed to be in the oven for an hour! Honestly, all the food we got tasted as if we actually made it haha, and I think the stuffing and cranberry sauce was my favorite 😍

This photo is from my Instagram story – and apparently is the only photo I took of our Whole Foods dinner 😅 And yes! We stuffed our faces while watching Disney+!

And of course, we had to get Finn all dressed up for the occasion! How cute is he with his little bow tie??

We are so thankful.

Thankful for each other, our families, Finn, the life we’re building, and of course, we are incredibly thankful to this business and industry. The wedding industry is my favorite. The vendors that turn into friendships, the couples we feel so lucky to have as clients and friends, and having the opportunity multiple times a year to document two people’s special day so that they can look back on their day with loved ones by their side.

It’s something we’ll never get tired of and are incredibly grateful and thankful to call our jobs!

Our Thanksgiving was smaller than usual… but, it was impactful to spend the day with just each other. I can’t believe 2019 is almost over! But, we are so excited for what’s to come!

Happy Thanksgiving from our little family to yours!!

xoxo,
Matlock and Kelly
